1962

A new livestock barn is built, after a fire burned the original barn.

The new structure was constructed of concrete blocks and metal roof with earthen floors. A large arena space was near the center with large spaces on either side and behind the arena where livestock could be tied, penned or fitted for show and sale. Many state and local livestock events were held here over the years. In more recent years, the Multipurpose Building located across the road near the old runway and airfield provides a larger interior space while also providing a much larger space for groups to park and load and unload their animals. At this time the future of the Livestock Barn is uncertain and is used for both storage of large equipment for Jackson’s Mill as well as “indoor” spaces for classes such as archery.
