The Robert Hayhurst Shooting Sports Complex is home to the West Virginia 4-H Shooting Sports Program. The West Virginia 4-H Shooting Sports Program give youths safe and thorough instruction and training in the use of firearms (muzzleloading, air pistol, air rifle including small bore and shotgun), archery equipment and wildlife conservation.
The Robert Hayhurst Shooting Sports Complex was a gift made by the Hayhurst family to honor Robert Hayhurst. Growing up in West Virginia, Robert Hayhurst introduced his children to shooting sports from an early age to understand the importance and pride that West Virginians have for this activity.
The West Virginia 4-H Shooting Sports Program encompasses the goals of youth development, volunteer leadership, capacity building for youth and their families, and environmental stewardship.
