Shrine dedicated to William "Teepi" Kendrick, director of Jackson's Mill.

Following William Kendrick’s death in 1937, the West Virginia 4-H All-Star group wanted to permanently commemorate the man who was so instrumental in the development of both the 4-H Youth Development Program in West Virginia and specifically his role in developing and establishing the vision and leadership necessary for the camp’s early years. At first suggestions were made that a chapel be built in his honor, but after the project was delayed, in part due to the outbreak of World War II, the decision was ultimately made to create a small stone shrine to him in the woods. There is a trail which will lead you on a trail, today known as the Dominion Environmental Education Trail, which was completed in 2001 through a grant from Dominion Energy Resources. The spot was selected as a remembered favorite spot of Kendrick who was often found out there in solitude which he used to pray, meditate and relax. The shrine was dedicated in 1949.
