Braxton Cottage is completed.
Construction of this stone cottage was begun in 1935 and finished in 1938. Like many of the cabins at Jackson’s Mill, much of the funding and even some of the materials were supplied by the county for which the cabin is named. In this case, the interior is paneled in red birch, which was cut from trees grown in Braxton County. There are four dormitory rooms downstairs and one large dormitory room upstairs. Braxton sleeps 38 people, comfortably.
