1919

A large stone marker and bronze tablet placed to mark the site of the boyhood home of Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson is dedicated on September 18, 1919.

The location of the stone is next to the site where the Cummins Jackson house stood. Interestingly, this is almost certainly not the location of the house where Thomas lived during his years at Jackson’s Mill, which was in the original log home that was built during Edward’s lifetime and used until Cummins constructed his new home in the 1840s. The stone is made of granite and the bronze tablet was a gift from Jere E. Wheelwright.
