The gristmill stopped operating.
By the early 1890s, declining business, increased cost of upkeep and maintenance of the machinery, dam and stones, led the gristmill to cease operation. The last reported grind occurred in Jackson’s Mill in July of 1892 and was done by William Arnold according to family genealogy. Arnold was the descendent of George Jackson, Edward Jackson’s brother.
