Edward Jackson passed away on December 25th of that year and is buried in the Jackson family cemetery.

He left behind a large family, including eight children and a wife. His oldest son, Cummins Jackson, took over the property, including the operation of the gristmill. It was sometime after this point that Cummins realized that the river flow was eroding the bank upon which the mill sat. A change had to be made, and Cummins resolved to move the mill across the river to its current location in the years following his father’s death.
