Edward Jackson is successful in his efforts to pass legislation to create Lewis County, the county in which WVU Jackson’s Mill is located.
Edward, and other local politicians, campaigned for election to the Virginia General Assembly where they crafted a bill to create a new county. The act passed in February of 1818.
