Abbey Bag

Basic Cleaning and Care of Your Featherweight Machine


Instructor: Sheila Maxey
Level: Beginner to Advanced
Technique: Demonstration

Description: This class is for everyone who has a Singer Featherweight machine and wants to know more about taking care of it. We will go over basic cleaning and maintenance to keep your machine healthy and you happy—we will not be doing any repairs. Time permitting, instructor will briefly discuss taking care of your case. She will have information available on where to obtain parts, oils, manuals, attachments, etc.

Chenille Pillow

Description: Who doesn't love to "pet" chenille? Learn how to create your own chenille and how you can incorporate it into your quilts, pillows, clothing, and even rugs. Learn how to add appliques to a chenille pillow and to make strips of chenille to create designs on the back of the pillow. Chenille is fun to make and adds whimsy and interest to the items of your choice.

Solving the Mystery of Batting and Thread Use

Technique: Discussion with "hands-on" examples

Description: What batt to use and what thread to use while quilting is often a great puzzle. During this mini-session, we'll discuss what is what in the world of batting and threads. Hopefully, we will be able to solve some of the confusion that you may have. Bring your questions!

Zipper Quilt

Materials Fee: Students will bring own fabric and supplies
Description: An easy and quick design with endless possibilities, the Zipper Quilt is simple and fun! We'll precut the patches to speed up construction and explore a variety of color and print choices and settings. This is an excellent quilt to use precut fabrics, especially Jelly Rolls and charm squares. The class sample was made with charm squares and strips of solid fabric.
